The easiest, simplest, and cheapest way to support Minor Mogul is to sign up for the Newsletter. The last week of every month, you’ll receive a PDF with updates about Minor Mogul projects, articles about micro-budget movie-making, and lists of resources for movie-makers and movie-watchers. To sign up, send an email to MinorMogul@Gmail.com with the subject line “Newsletter subscription”.
You can also support Minor Mogul movies more directly . . .
Movie-making is expensive — even micro-budget movie-making — and sources of funding are few. If you want to support Minor Mogul movies, you can donate money, equipment, or services — or simply help spread the word.
All donations will be received humbly and with thanks, and acknowledged on the movie’s DVD and website. You can also get various rewards for donations at specific levels. And I will “pay it forward” by providing guidance, support, and assistance to other independent movie-makers, so your support will have a long-term effect.
Money
Your donations will be put towards actual movie productions; no part will go towards “overhead”, “office expenses”, or paying my rent.
An easy and safe way to donate money is through PayPal, using your credit card, debit card, or PayPal account:
Equipment
You can help these ideas turn into movies by donating gear: cameras, tripods, lighting instruments, microphones, computers, cables, tools, hardware, and accessories of every kind are always welcome. You can donate a stinger (heavy-duty extension cord) or a passenger van (for ferrying around cast and crew). It’s an axiom of movie-making that you can never have too many C-stands!
Each movie has specific resources it needs — special gear, costumes, locations, props, etc. You can support specific movies by checking what they need on their specific pages under Productions.
If you have items you’d like to donate, please email MinorMogul@Gmail.com and we’ll work out the details.
Services
Most of us don’t have spare cash or gear just lying around, but still like to support projects and causes we believe in. You can make a tangible contribution to Minor Mogul by donating your professional services. For example, if you’re an accountant you might donate a couple of hours of your professional time to help get the paperwork in order.
If you can offer a service that you believe would be useful, please email MinorMogul@Gmail.com and we’ll work out the details.
Rewards
I want to thank you in a tangible way for your support, so I’ve created a system of rewards for specific levels of donations. Naturally, the more you donate, the larger and rarer the reward you earn. Most people donate between $20 and $100, but larger and smaller donations are always appreciated.
| Donation | Tangible reward | Smile reward |
| $5 | A personal thank-you, sent via email. | I will say aloud, “Thank you for your support, [name],” as I click “Send”. |
| $10 | The email plus a personal thank-you letter, written by hand with pen and ink on paper. | I’ll dedicate my first cup of coffee of the day to you, and raise my mug in a toast. |
| $25 | The email, the hand-written thank-you letter, and a DVD copy of the current production when it’s released. | I’ll refer to you in conversation as “the noted patron of the arts”. |
| $50 | All the above, plus a “Special thanks to” credit on the DVD and the website. | I will consider you not just a donor, but a close personal friend. |
| $100 | All the above with the DVD autographed by the cast and crew, and an extra disc of behind-the-scenes photos and videos. | I’ll give you an awkward phone call to thank you personally for your donation. |
| $5,000 | All the above, plus credit in the movie as “Executive Producer”. | You get my ponytail. That’s right: I will cut my hair. If you’d like, I’ll donate the never-coloured, all-natural locks to an organization that makes wigs for kids with cancer. |
Individual Productions may offer different specific rewards, eg. crew caps or jackets, visits to the set, etc.
Spread the word!
The most important way you can support Minor Mogul — and independent movie-making generally — is to talk about it with your friends, family, acquaintances, and co-workers. Word-of-mouth is the most effective kind of advertising, and your passion for the subject will impress the people you talk with.
Please encourage people to visit the Minor Mogul website, sign up for the eNewsletter, and join the Community.
